We base our work on strong British Values and Christian Values, which are evident throughout school in the attitudes and behaviours shown by all members of the school community.

Most of these Values can be said to be ‘human Values’ and inclusive for people with different or diverse faiths, and also for those with no faith. As a Church of England school, however, we have rooted these Values in the Bible. We have established six Christian Values that are particularly important to members of our school family.

Throughout the year, we celebrate and live out our Christian Values. Each half term we focus on a specific value. Please scroll down to find out more about the Value we explore each half term and a linked Bible story that illustrates the Value well and is particularly memorable for the children.

Our Christian Values newsletters include activities for children to do at home and ideas about how to talk about the values with their families.

"Show respect for all people. Love the brothers and sisters of God’s family. Respect God. Honour the king."
1 Peter 2:17

Christians believe that God gives all people a choice.  Those who show respect are acknowledging God’s greatness, authority and involvement in the world.

Courageous Advocacy - Bravely making the world a better place

We reflect on the following questions:

  • How do we show respect for each other in our school?

  • How do we value and respect our own and other people’s belongings?

Christians believe that God loves and cares for them in many different ways in all aspects of their life. They know that their response to this provision should be one of thankfulness and praise.

Courageous Advocacy - Bravely making the world a better place

We will consider the following questions:

  • How do we encourage an appreciative and thankful attitude in all members of our school community?

  • How does the school raise consciousness of being thankful for those things we often take for granted?

  • How do we encourage children to show gratitude in practical ways?

  • How do we give thanks for new members of our school community?

Our main Bible Text is The Man Who Came Back (Luke 17:11-19).

"The Son paid for our sins, and in him we have forgiveness."
Colossians 1:14

This is the way that upsets can be fixed.  Forgiveness is a choice made out of love.  For Christians Jesus’ death on the cross shows us why we should forgive, no matter what the cost.

Courageous Advocacy - Bravely making the world a better place

We reflect on the following questions:

  • How do we help each other when we make mistakes?

  • How do we help people make up for their mistakes?

  • How does our school help us to know that forgiveness is always possible?

  • How do we show forgiveness and acceptance of everyone?

  • What do we do to encourage each other to forgive?

Christians believe that truth is revealed in the Bible and supremely in the person and life of Jesus Christ. Through Jesus’ teaching we are given an insight into the nature of God and the way in which He means us to live.

Courageous Advocacy - Bravely making the world a better place

We reflect on the following questions:

  • How does our school encourage us to be truthful in our dealings with one another?

  • What does it mean to be true to yourself?

  • How can I stand up for my own beliefs?

  • How am I being equipped to make informed choices?

Our main Bible text is The Parable of the Two Builders (Matthew 7, Luke 6).
