Opal Class were very excited when they got to school today because we had a special delivery in our outdoor classroom. The children could not wait to try out the digger. It led to a discussion about excavators and what they are used for. We talked about how it works with levers and ways to stay safe when someone else is using it. Outside, the children decided to make the most of all of the leaves we have and started to collect them with the scoop.
The digger's levers will help the children to develop their gross motor skills and shoulder strength. This, in turn, helps the children as they develop their fine motor skills for writing and tool control.
