We had great fun in Science this week, experimenting to find out how the size of a parachute affects the length of time it takes to fall! We had to measure our parachutes carefully and make sure our test was fair by changing only one variable - the size of the parachute canopy. Everything else stayed the same - the length of the strings, the paperclip balance and the height we dropped our parachutes from. We found out that the greater the surface area, the more effective the parachute, because there is more air resistance and so it takes longer to fall.
